A new start - Niche Events Ltd and new Chairman, Phil Soar

After 16 years in media, having joined EMAP from school, I can just about squeeze myself into the all time hall-of-fame by confirming I am ex-Blenheim, albeit by one month prior to its acquisition by UBM. Following 4 years at Miller Freeman (CMP) then a further three years working under Neville Buch's reign at Tarsus, I set up business with another Blenheim old timer, Adrian Broadbent.

However, following a 5 year stint, at the beginning of this year Adrian emigrated to Spain with family and we divided up our business selling one of our shows to Cologne Messe, Adrian took part of the business with him to Madrid and myself and the team retained the rest here in the UK, Wimbledon HQ.

With a hunger to succeed and work my way into the EN's Top 50 (one day!), I contacted industry statistician, Phil Soar, who I was delighted to welcome as Chairman to new company, Niche Events. So far, Phil has been an invaluable asset and mentor offering accurate and timely advice that has certainly assisted in keeping me on the right tracks. I feel very fortunate to have grasped the opportunity to serve under the wing of one of the industry's most accomplished individuals.

Today we are expanding our activities into India and have just launched our first Indian show to take place November 2008, TranSec INDIA Expo 2008 www.transec.com.

Exciting times ahead and I am pleased to join Event Crowd to form part of the expanding network experience... After all, that is our industry's primary function.
