We’ve been approached by a colleague in the US who is trying to compile a list of comparative phrases for the exhibitions industry in the USA, UK and Europe. But I’m not entirely sure that we have matches to all of them, as you’ll see some of them are straight forward, but others are more difficult.
Take a couple of minutes to have a look for your selves and we'll let you know what we come up with.
I was the one who asked my English colleagues for support. Thank you Simon and Toby for your contribution! I have a comprehensive glossary from German- to US-English on my website, (http://www.messebau-usa.com/newsletters.asp#ExhibitGlossary), and I thought it might be interesting to start something like that for Americans to use the correct terms in Europe. You'll find the complete article, which at this time obviously only addresses the most important terms, in the next issue of Exhibit City News (http://www.exhibitcitynews.com/cms/index.php). Everyone is invited to add to this list. If you write to me at Horst@Messebau-USA.com, I will continue to cover this topic in my columne in the international section of ECN.
