I'm looking for some help with a feature I am writing on exhibition and event venues.
Does anyone hae any opinions on the following?
Realising the full potential of your venue
Having just had a chat with one of my contacts, it seems that some venues
are having lots of organisers use an amazing venue that has loads of
potential yet they are turning up with a projector. Hence, they are not
using the venue to full effect.
Should organisers be realising the full potential of their chosen venue in
order to produce a better event? Why spend money hiring a venue that has
great potential when it's going to be used for a really simple presentation?
Shouldn't organisers be looking to only hire venues that they are going to
use to their full potential? It is not a waste of organisers money to pay,
in some cases, staggering amounts in room hire costs, to stage an event, yet
not make the most of a venue's full facilities?
Does this mean that organisers are lacking creativity? Is the cost of room
hire impacting on the budget and leaving little else for the finishing
touches? Is it the fault of the venue owners, should they not be pushing
their capabilities more?
Food for thought I think, and therefore I wondered whether anyone would be interested in commenting. Also, case studies of how any of you have used a venue in a creative way would be appreciated.
